I started a non weight bearing exercise today (Water Aerobics) with little ladies my age who have also had the misfortune of suffering from different ailments like back, knee, neck pain etc.  I'm scheduled for the next several weeks (Monday, Wednesday and Friday).

It's a class that is designed to get you up and moving with the least amount of pain but with the most benefit.  Many who have had back injuries such as myself have been "protecting" their backs and afraid to move for fear they will experience pain.  Walking is the best exercise along with water aerobics for those who suffer from back pain I'm told.  Walking keeps you moving without causing damage as long as you walk appropriately, in correct shoes and not past the amount of time where you are "comfortable".  Water Aerobics on the other hand has less impact  to the body due to the bouancy of the water and the ability to "float" during the exercise.  This causes less stress on the body and it's all set to music which makes it fun and another "added value" not to mention the weight loss which I certainly can use since I've been sitting for far too long.  With the help of my dietician, who has designed a diet with less calories (if I would just follow it - lol) I should realize some weight loss!!.   The water aerobics comes highly recommended by my therapists and my doctors because It is designed to use every part of the body so that you are not stiff from sitting too long.  Being injured sometimes makes you feel like you're the only one and getting out with others during mid-morning lightens your mood and makes you feel better physically and emotionally. The class was very effective.  I look forward to the next one!  I highly recommend water aerobics for anyone whether you've been injured or not.

I have been walking @ the track early in the mornings to

exercise , get fit and lose weight. It isenergizing and many folks are out at 6:00am in the mornings. I have been thinking about getting back into Tennis. I might get back into swimming also. Irene
