An Old Classmate

Bettie Jean Wallace (Williams) Posted by Bettie Jean Wallace (Williams) at 02:14 PM on October 28, 2009 Comments comments (0)

I had the opportunity on Sunday to speak with a classmate of mine that I haven't seen or spoken with in more than 40 years.  Can you believe that?  It feels like I'm only 40 most days.  I was pleasantly surprised by the phone call.  It's amazing how there are still many alumni out there who we really haven't seen, spoken with or no nothing about since school ended and in my case before it ended since I didn't graduate from Johnakin.

It amazes me how...

Have You Gotten Your Flu Shot?

Bettie Jean Wallace (Williams) Posted by Bettie Jean Wallace (Williams) at 04:36 PM on September 26, 2009 Comments comments (0)

I just finished trekking down to my local grocery store reluctantly to get my flu shot.  I'm always reluctant because believe it or not every time I get the flu shot - I get sick.  Don't ask me why.  I used to stay away from flu shots until my doctor told me I should be getting them since I have asthma and if I ever really got the flu it would be very difficult for me.  I told him even when I get the flu shot it's still difficult.  I just took a Tylenol as the pharmac...

Positive Mental Attitude Breeds Opportunity and Success!!

Bettie Jean Wallace (Williams) Posted by Bettie Jean Wallace (Williams) at 06:12 PM on September 07, 2009 Comments comments (0)
Have you ever noticed that the people who complain the loudest about never having an opportunity in life are usually the ones who always have a ready excuse for their failures? I have. Nothing is ever their fault; they are victims of their race, their environment, insufficient education, or any number of other factors that they perceive as placing them at a disadvantage. If you look hard enough, you can always find reasons for not attempting something or not sticking with the job to the end. S... Read Full Post »

Ted Kennedy - He Left His Mark!

Bettie Jean Wallace (Williams) Posted by Bettie Jean Wallace (Williams) at 04:37 PM on August 29, 2009 Comments comments (0)

I just finished watching a fitting tribute and celebration of the life of Senator Edward Kennedy. Like all of the Kennedys before him and despite the tragedy and all of the controversey surrounding him in the early years - he lived a life of "service" - modeling the behaviors his family set out and surpassing his brothers by the mere fact that he was on this earth much longer and had such a desire to serve which was instilled at an early age. He along with his dear sister Eunice gav...

What a Tragedy!

Bettie Jean Wallace (Williams) Posted by Bettie Jean Wallace (Williams) at 01:13 AM on August 28, 2009 Comments comments (0)

How sad it is - the Michael Jackson Story which basically was more about  "greed" on the parts of all of the doctors who failed to say "NO" to Michael.  A "drug addicted" person has no "real control" over their actions unfortunately, to the point where they will just automatically stop asking for drugs - they need help.  They need someone to love and care for them enough to declare them "incompetent" and sign them up for rehab like one famous actress family did for he...

Narcotics and Prescription Pain Killers

Bettie Jean Wallace (Williams) Posted by Bettie Jean Wallace (Williams) at 11:36 AM on July 06, 2009 Comments comments (0)

When they rolled me into the emergency room on April 20, 2009, I was in so much emotional distress behind the excrutiating pain that officially sent me there until I was totally convinced that no one would be able to help me even in the emergency room!  I didn't know what had happened to me at the Chiropractor's office because my routine had been the same since last Fall  - physical therapy and traction.  As I was getting off of the traction machine - suddenly I ...

Michael Jackson

Bettie Jean Wallace (Williams) Posted by Bettie Jean Wallace (Williams) at 07:22 PM on June 25, 2009 Comments comments (0)
It doesn't feel quite like more than four decades have passed since that little boy grew into a man before our eyes! I was saddened by the news of Michael Jackson's death today. He gave the world his music and all he had to offer and he was a brilliant, hard working, dedicated musician and performer. No one could come close to matching his "gift" which he gave so freely! I'm saddened as well that the last years of his life were basically spent in "recluse" for the most part. I think over... Read Full Post »

Remaining Safe on the Internet

Bettie Jean Wallace (Williams) Posted by Bettie Jean Wallace (Williams) at 01:55 PM on June 23, 2009 Comments comments (0)

It's very important that we all work to keep ourselves safe on the internet by ensuring that we keep our virus protection and spyware protection updated. For those of you who are NOT aware, this means when the pop-up shows on your screen asking you to update your virus protection or update your computer from Microsoft with important updates - PLEASE DO SO WITH URGENCY!  This is very important -  and to run your virus scans or even to schedule them to run "automatically" ev...

Washington Metro Train Crash

Bettie Jean Wallace (Williams) Posted by Bettie Jean Wallace (Williams) at 12:15 PM on June 23, 2009 Comments comments (2)

I am saddened by the news that so far nine lives were lost on the Washington Metro when two trains collided near the Fort Totten Red Line Station.  As I watch the news I'm am horrified at the mangled piece of artwork that has been left lying in the wake of this most horrifc train crash.  The Washington Metro has been at the forefront in this country of a fantastic rail system but no stranger to accidents as any other large rail system but over it's almost four decades of being in business has...

The Tragedy at the Holocaust Museum

Bettie Jean Wallace (Williams) Posted by Bettie Jean Wallace (Williams) at 06:35 PM on June 20, 2009 Comments comments (0)

Someone's father was taken from them in a senseless tragedy this past week!  He was a young man of age 39 (Stephen Johns) with wife and child.  He was someone's son, brother, cousin, uncle perhaps and friend.   How sad.  A young boy visiting the musem with his family took time to mention the brief encounter he had with this young man and how he was impressed by simply meeting him at the door.  He went on about the cheerfulness of this man and how pleased he was t...
