Celebrating the Past, Respecting the Present and Embracing the Future"

About Me

Hello!  My name is Bettie Jean (BJ) and I'd like to welcome you to the "alternate site" to marionites.com that replaces my very first site at Verizon.  As many of you know, I am currently retired and enjoying my retirement for the most part despite some medical challenges with my back right now.  There are so many things to do and places to go if you enjoy travel.  For those who are not able to physically travel right now (I am currently among them)  - you can travel without leaving your home by just taking a ride in cyber space.  It's okay -- it doesn't have to be a bad ride! I'm currently in the website maze, trying to make my way through it with ease but enjoying it all the same.  I hope you'll enjoy what I'm trying to do here and I hope it will inspire you in some way to investigate the world of the web in a safer fashion and more regularly and encourage your kids and grandchildren to do likewise!  On a personal note, I am in the process of reviving my photography career for when I am able to get back out there on a regular.  Photography has always been a passion of mine and  I'm growing stronger by the day.  If you'd like, check me out as well at:    http://www.awesome1322.webs.com/.

I have recreated the very first website that I created for the Marionites because I have decided to dismantle the Verizon site once and for all.  My main purpose in doing so is because it was "cumbersome" to get things done to say the very least.  The site was old and antiquated and did not allow for many of the bells and whistles that you are able to find in the world of webs today and in particular on this site that features Blogs, slideshows and other fancy little widgets and graphics.  The most costly time was spent on the old Verizon site trying to upload photos.  Aside from that, the site had grown so large until it was costing me extra money each month which eventually outweighed the benefits we were receiving.

Please note that this site is a "free" site and that the information herein is limited.   The "official site" http://www.marionites.com is still active and our paid site.  Also, as mentioned on the marionites.com site, I have isolated the History portion in another site that is "under construction" at http://www.johnakinhigh.webs.com

I hope you will enjoy my new website although it is still in it's infancy.  I've tried to incorporate some of the comments I received over time on the Verizon site and hope that you will take the opportunity to use the added features, i.e., Blog, Forum and videos.  I welcome comments on anything I've written here and you may certainly start a topic for discussion on your own as well.  I've provided the atmostphere of more "interactive" use on the site and hope you will enjoy that feature.  I will feature a couple of different videos from time to time to spice things up a bit.  As time goes by, I will incorporate others.  I look forward to hearing about your experiences as you peruse the new site.  Do stop by any time and thanks for joining us here!!

Thanks for stopping in!  Check back to see what's new!  Don't forget to sign my guestbook, become a member and encourage others to do so as well.  I am "password protecting" the photos so that anyone can't just come in and go through the photos for security reasons.  It will only be open to "members" who are signed up and signed in.  Thank you for your participation and your understanding in view of the times we are living in.
